It's getting around that time. So, who do you think will get the job? Feel free to write in your own answer but include it in the comments.

Who do you think would be the best fit? I know that Mike Leach is out, and I don't think that Rocky Long would be a good choice. However, I think I would be okay with any of the other choices. What do you think?

Shawn,

Out of the candidates listed, I'd prefer to see a Team of Mini-Ditkas as head coach, but since that can't happen, Long or Hawkins (if he puts in a late charge) would be the next-best option.

Okay great! Thanks. I have another question. I have been trying to find who TXST is recruiting, but I can't find it anywhere. I saw that you wrote something before about some of the recruits. Where do you the info? And How many are we recruiting?

Shawn,

I found the info about recruits by talking with local high school coaches as well as people connected at Texas State. Coaches at Texas State aren't allowed to talk about recruits until they sign National Letters of Intent. I assume the Bobcats will recruit a full batch, especially with those 11 extra scholarships kicking in.

Who will the next coach be? If I'm right, it's Fran. But the question should be who SHOULD be the next Texas State coach.
Fran has been mediocre at best even having the opportunities to coach programs like Alabama and Texas A&M. He was able to win with others coaches recruits and not his own. And when he left the programs (as he did Southwest Texas), it took years to rebuild those programs.
Fran has been seen in San Marcos for a long time now hanging out with folks in the Athletic Dept. He has ties to Teis. There were 'leaks' to the press that Fran was being considered.
Now think that this is supposed to be the beginning of new era in Bobcat football. So we are going to bring in a guy who was fired for violating rules at A&M who will likely bring his son on staff who was suspended for violating rules at Blinn? We're going to take the guy who was passed over by every other school he's interviewed with since A&M? Great new start to a new era.

IF TEXAS STATE WANTS A CHANCE TO WIN THEY BETTER HIGHER FRANCHIONE. PROVEN RECORDS --ESPECIALLY AT REBUILDING PROGRAMS. BREWSTER- I HOPE NOT HE NEVER EVEN HAD A WINNING SEASON. FRANCHIONE IS LOOKING FOR THAT SECOND CHANCE AND I THINK TEXAS STATE IS CRAZY IF THEY DONT HIGHER HIM. FRANS COACHING RECORD OUGHT TO SPEAK FOR ITSELF AS A HEAD COACH 180- 100?. iF THERE LOOKING AT bREWSTER THEY MIGHT HAVE WELL KEPT WRIGHT- HE HAD A BETTER RECORD. GOOD LUCK CATS AND WELCOME TO THE FBS

I wouldn't think this would take as much time as it is. Of the people interviewing there are only two obvious choices. All of the coaches interviewing have wonderful resumes and I am honored we have such talented coaches wanting the job including but not listed Shawn Watson the OC of Nebraska. I don't know why we are voting on Mike Leach, he's not interviewing.

We need a coach that has been a head coach before, has a proven track record of building a small program from the ground up that is still winning after leaving. A coach that can get administrations, athletic directors, and alumni to listen and change.

The only two coaches on the list of interviewees are Dan Hawkins and what he did at Boise or Fran and what he did at TCU. Both programs started winning when they got there and are still winning today.
