- Texas State head coach Brad Wright said "...at this moment..." the Bobcats will "...switch the rotation..." at quarterback, meaning true freshman Tyler Arndt is the new No. 1.
- Wright added redshirt sophomore Tim Hawkins will still get his snaps as well, since Texas State will continue with its two-quarterback rotation.
- When asked if he'll settle on one quarterback any time soon, Wright said, "What happens in Week 6 when Tyler goes down and the other guy hasn't played any? You're in a situation where you're stuck with someone who hasn't seen the field in a while. You pick your poison."
- Bobcats defensive coordinator Fred Bleil took a lot of the responsibility for the loss to Houston since he dialed up five zone blitzes on Texas State's first 12 plays.
- Bleil said, "We had minus-negative big gainers for them and minus-negatives for us. We felt we needed to hit that guy early and in order to get a win. They just didn't get plays, they got touchdowns out of it. We settled down and got a little more conservative, but we should have got into a rhythm against that game speed."
