College Football: Today is the day things get WAC-ky

Folks, the time has finally come for Texas State to take its place in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Today, the Bobcats will announce they will accept the Western Athletic Conference's invitation to join the conference as a full-fledged member in 2012.

This page will be updated throughout the day with quotes and tidbits.

  • Montana says 'no thanks' to WAC — CFT
  • WAC set to invite Texas State — SMDR
  • The Southland Conference will issue a statement later this afternoon. SLC Commissioner Tom Burnett has been in meetings all day. UPDATE: Here is the statement.
  • Texas State Director of Athletics Dr. Larry Teis said the feeling around the athletic department is "...unbelievable. I met with all the head coaches this morning. It’s funny, Karen Chisum [head volleyball coach] was crying. She’s been here so long and to see the transition. Ricci Woodard [head softball coach] was kind of the same way. They and Ty Harrington [head baseball coach] were here when we talked about it last time. The coaches were all emotional."
